Yes, the details of registered victims are held securely at the head office of Queensland Corrective Services. Offenders are not informed when a person is placed on the Victims Register.
Registered victims should be aware that they must treat the information received from the Victims Register confidentially. Information received from the Victims Register must not be disclosed for public dissemination. A registered victim who discloses information publicly may have their details removed from the register.
Registered victims who wish to share the information they receive with family and close friends should ensure that any other person to whom the information is disclosed is made aware of the confidential nature of the information.
